Jon P. Karp Appointed to Metrocare Board of Trustees

Whitley Penn Tax Partner and Healthcare Industry Leader for Tax, Jon P. Karp, CPA, PFS, has been appointed by the Dallas County Commissioners Court to serve on the Metrocare Services Board of Trustees.
The Metrocare Services Board of Trustees provides governance and oversight to ensure the organization’s mission, policies, and strategic objectives are carried out effectively in support of behavioral health services across Dallas County. The Board is composed of nine trustees who are appointed by the Dallas County Commissioners Court. Working closely with Metrocare’s Chief Executive Officer, the Board oversees major decisions affecting the delivery of mental health and developmental disability services and meets regularly to guide the agency’s operations and long-term direction.

Karp has more than 30 years of tax, advisory, financial services and public accounting experience focused on C-corporations, S-corporations, partnerships, and private client services. He primarily works with clients in the healthcare, energy, manufacturing and distribution, retail, professional services, nonprofit, real estate and construction industries.
Karp serves on the Executive Committee and is a Past Chairman for the Texas Business Hall of Fame. He is a member of the Texas Business Leadership Council, the Forefront Living Foundation Board of Trustees, Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TXCPA), the Dallas Chapter of TXCPA, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). Additionally, Jon was a member of the Plano Texas Health Resources (THR) Community Leadership Partners and serves on the Board of Directors for Pavillion Bank. He is also a Continuing Professional Education Instructor at Surgent, and past Board of Trustees Member of Temple Emanu-El in Dallas. He was previously named to DCEO’s Dallas 500 List, featuring profiles of influential leaders in DFW.
Karp received his BA in Anthropology and Religious Studies from Southern Methodist University and completed post graduate studies in Accounting at The University of Texas at Arlington and The University of Texas at Dallas.
