Fort Worth, TX (October 18, 2019) – Whitley Penn is pleased to announce that Griff Babb, Audit Partner in the firm’s Fort Worth Office, was asked to join the Global Audit Advisory Board (GAAB). The Board’s founding company, Wolters Kluwer Tax & Accounting, is a leading provider of software solutions and local expertise for tax, accounting, and audit professionals and the company recently announced the formation of the Global Audit Advisory Board. This board will serve as a forum for leading global audit professionals to gain detailed understanding of current challenges within the audit profession and work together to guide its evolution into the future.
The board consists of various leaders within the audit profession from around the world. Members meet quarterly to discuss a variety of topics, including emerging technologies and their potential impact on the profession, quality control matters within the profession, and a variety of other topics. The board itself is tasked with looking at these emerging technologies and ideas for innovation in order to determine how those may impact the audit profession moving forward. Once the impact has been determined, the board will sponsor research to understand the evolution of such a change.
The inaugural meeting of the Global Audit Advisory Board, held in New York city in September, served as the perfect platform to bring together leading global audit practitioners, thought leaders and experts to exchange insights about the current and future state of the profession. Key topics included the application of Blockchain technology in audit, modernization of standards, including PCAOB standard setting, and the role of artificial intelligence and machine learning technology.
“We are proud to announce Griff being named to a board of such notoriety. Through this position we look forward to Griff representing himself and Whitley Penn in a way that encourages innovation in the audit practice as well as continued quality control”, stated Felix Lozano, III, CPA, CFE, and Director of the Firm’s Audit Practice.
