Houston, TX – (April 24, 2019) – Whitley Penn is extremely proud of Senior Manager Amanda Beabout and Senior Amy Sahely for competing in the 2019 Boston Marathon on April 15, 2019.
At its conception in 1897, the Boston Marathon had 18 participants. Today, it has grown into a prestigious event and the 2019 Boston Marathon had 30,000+ runners and nearly 80% of the entries were reserved for time qualifiers.
Beabout qualified when participating in the 2018 Woodlands Marathon with a time of 3:29:15 placing second in her division. The Boston Marathon was her third full marathon in addition to seven half marathons.
“I definitely couldn’t have done it without the support of my husband. He is the one that got me into distance running in 2014 and supported me when I decided to make Boston my goal after running my first full marathon in 2017,” shared Beabout.
Sahely qualified at the Mountains to Beach in 2018 with a time of 3:23:58. She trained with two friends for the Mountains to Beach race and then decided to do the Boston and New York City Marathons together.
Sahely is part of a running group of 20 or so strong women. “We cheer each other on every step of the way,” Sahely continues, “My small group of 5 or 6 that live in and around my neighborhood not only serve as my training partners, but they are also my therapy! We all help each other through many of life’s challenges, not just running!”
Senior Manager Amanda Beabout has over nine years of audit experience with public and private companies and employee benefit plans. She is a trusted business advisor and consultant for clients in industries such as energy, manufacturing and distribution, construction, professional services, private equity investment companies, and employee benefit plans. She is experienced with audits that include: foreign currency matters, stock-based compensation, international operations (including IFRS), percentage of completion accounting, accounting standard implementations, SOX 404, and purchase accounting. Beabout has received a BA and MS in Accounting from the University of Houston.
Senior Amy Sahely has over 22 years of experience. Over the years, Amy has practiced a combination of audit, tax and working for a number of small business. Sahely received a BSBA in Accounting from the University of Arkansas and a BS in Business Administration, Accounting from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville.
